You may think of self-care as relaxing or treating yourself, but it is about much more than that. Self-care is about doing things that help your mind, body, and emotions stay healthy.

If your depression is mild, you may feel better by using just self-care methods and if you need treatment to overcome depression, self-care is still important.

Research shows that the following everyday habits and activities can help with depression symptoms, doing these regularly can boost your mood and help you manage your emotions.

  • Exercise daily or most days of the week
  • Breathing exercises for anxiety and relaxation
  • Staying connected socially
